Planning : change in idea + shoot day (previous ideas)
After we executed the first shoot two shoots of Maneater with the cast and crew it didn’t came out as good as we expected, there was a lack of cinematography and we were either left with the choice of improving the same film opening or make a completely different one.
After a lot of discussions with the professor and team mates we decided that it’s better if we went for another shoot. We once again planned it out, made the story boards and mood boards for the film opening Checkmate (an action film) and then we were hit with another problem that the former actors couldn’t perform in this film due to the stress of studies. We had to improvise and went to audition our juniors from which we chose Ismail Durrani, who played the male lead, Alishba Jalal Baig ( member of the team who also auditioned for a part in the film) who played the female lead and Abdul Hannan who played the bodyguard.
Checkmate:
We went out an rented our very first location Chaye Khanaa because it seemed to be a fit for the type of film opening we wanted to create. After the shooting and editing and the final cut we as the team weren’t satisfied by it and although it didn’t lack cinematography, this time it lacked the enigma and the opening in whole was quite questioning, our professor told us that we lacked a few shots and that we can improve this idea by making changes to it but the only problem that we had this time was that we were short on the budget so we couldn’t rent out the place again and couldn’t change the location either (for the sake of continuity).
The images are from previous shoots that we did not complete. The images from the rented room are for checkmate and the other for maneater. You can tell we put a lot of effort into our final film because we tried to improve and film it multiple times because we knew we could make it even better, and we did. As part of our efforts, I proudly display all of our recent shoots here.
